On June 11th, 2003, we visited the Kostelec, a castle and forest belonging to

to the university.  Students studying natural resources live there while conducting

research in the forest.  After touring parts of the castle, we traveled to the forest

to learn about silvicultural practices and the watershed.  After a delicious lunch,

we went to a local sawmill and witnessed the process of sawlogs being converted

to the finished product. Our last stop was a nursery with thousands of plant species

available for purchase.
