On June 26th, the class toured Prague's Central Wastewater Treatment Plant.

After breakfast, we hopped on a city bus and then walked to the Imperial Island of

the Vltava River. Ahhhh...the scent of fresh sewage filled the air. The plant manages

waste for up to 1.5 million people, 94% of the Prague area sewage. The plant removes

carbon pollutants, denitrifies, and removes phosphorus through many different

biological, chemical, and mechanical processes we were so fortunate to see firsthand.

When the treatment has been completed, the freshly cleaned water returns to the river.

After a very interesting and educational morning, we went back to eat lunch. Yum!
