TJ climbing things...

as usual

For our free 4-day weekend, we were given the option to leave the

city of Prague and even the country.  TJ, LeAnna, and Cierra decided to

take a 2 day trip to a little town called Regensburg about 2 hours across

the border into Germany.  We arrived in the town not knowing what to

expect and being ready for anything.  Fortunately, we were greeted by

an annual local festival called the Burgerfest.  The streets were lined with

food and merchandise vendors and there were stages set up for live music

around every corner.  We quickly found a nice hotel room and left our packs

there and started out to see the town.  After sampling some local cuisine and

German renditions of good American Music (CCR), we turned in for the

night.

We woke up the next morning and got a chance to see the town in

non-festival mode.  We toured Saint Peters Cathedral which was built in the

11th century and got a better look at the 12th century stone bridge that is a

major landmark in the city.  After walking until we couldn't walk anymore,

we boarded the train back to Prague.

While things in Germany were a bit more expensive, as they are on the

Euro monetary system, it was well worth the trip to experience another

culture different from our own.
